Our mission is to fulfil the great commission of Matthew 28:19-20:
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
We will seek to fulfil our mission through Bible teaching, prayer and fellowship, aiming to develop Christians to be effective disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, with a clear sense of their Biblical duty to serve the Lord and so to become participants in evangelism and the evangelistic outreach of the congregation.
Our vision is to see the Word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ woven into the fabric of everyday community and family life
We aim to be a centre of excellence of Biblical teaching and discipleship, Christian living and Christian service.
As a congregation, our main duty is to worship God together. Our worship is based on the Bible as the inspired Word of God. We use the English Standard Version of the Bible in our services.
We believe that when God speaks from his Word by the power of the Holy Spirit, he has something to say into every area of life and society – including personal life, family life, education, professional life, community life, and the many complex issues which we face as a society.
The praise in our worship is unaccompanied and is taken from the Word of God in the words of the Scottish Psalter and the Sing Psalms version of the metrical Psalms.
We engage with the community with the witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and in various practical ways as we seek to respond to people’s changing spiritual, social and family circumstances. Our engagement with the wider community includes social events, etc., where we seek to build relationships with our people and weave the influence of the gospel into community life.
We support the wider missionary work of the Church of Jesus Christ both prayerfully and financially. We receive regular updates from missionary organisations. We also take every opportunity to have representatives of missionary organisations speaking at our meetings to report on their missionary activities. Examples of the missionary organisations we support are – the Slavic Gospel Association, Operation Mobilisation, SASRA, Open Doors (UK), Latin Link, the Vine Trust & The Sudanese Reformed Church
